*** Long Overdue Update! ***

Friday 11th December 2020

If you are a regular visitor to this website, you would have noticed over the last few months, a distinct lack of news and updates. This is due to a number of factors, the main one being my workload!

PWM Design Consultants Ltd have been in the fortunate position of being remarkably busy, not only pre lockdown, but also during it. I have now made myself sit down and find some time to bring you up to date with what has been happening here at PWM Design during the latter periods of 2019 and all of 2020, so included below are short insights on some of the *contracts and projects I have been working on, along with some screenshots of certain aspects of the **Solidworks 3D models.

Let us start by going back to Summer 2019 to February 2020. This is when I was contracted to Earlsdon Technology who are based in Coventry. The initial contract was to help in the design and development of a machine tool for production grinding automotive engine valves. This project involved producing all Solidworks models and production manufacturing drawings. On completion of this project, I was asked to help out with design & development of a sub assembly, included in one of E-Tech’s fillet rolling machines. Both of these machine tools can be viewed here. A very enjoyable and productive contract to work on and I look forward to maybe engaging with them again, in the future.

Next, around February 2020, came a project working for a company that I used to be employed by – General Dynamics UK Ltd. When I worked for them back in early 2000’s, the company incorporated various departments under ‘one roof’ as it was, but now GDUK Ltd is split into two separate divisions, General Dynamics Land Systems and General Dynamics Mission Systems. I carried out work for the latter – GDMS.

*Because of the nature of the work and the security issues, I cannot divulge much, but all I can say is, it was interesting work and something that I am used to designing. I am pleased to continue to help out with the security of the nation and hopefully, making the lives of our troops easier. I am glad to say that I am engaged in talks for securing future work.

On completion of the above, around the August 2020 time, I was approached by a company new for PWM Design. The company being Hanbury – Autogil who are based in Newton Abbot, Devon. I was asked initially to design & develop a special purpose manufacturing machine for the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry (read more here), but ended up working on two or three other projects for them as well. One of these projects being an assembly which was part of a drinks packaging machine. Details of the machines Hanbury – Autogil manufacture, can be viewed on their website here. These were very enjoyable and interesting projects to work on and I hope to engage with them in the future.

Well, that brings us to the present, December 2020. I am now working on a number of design & development projects for a company that manufactures for the DIY sector. The designs incorporate hinge and rotational mechanisms. This is all I can tell you due to NDA’s etc being in place but watch this space for future updates.

I will sign off by wishing you all a happy and safe Christmas and let us all look forward to a better year than 2020.

New Project Awards.

Monday 11th June 2018

Today we can announce that we have been awarded two new projects from two new customers.

The first new project is for International Modelling Services Ltd. in Stoke on Trent. This is to prototype a design for a revolutionary production line for the ceramics industry, looking at the way that toilet moulds are filled and extracted. This will be a project that will be full lifecycle for us, taking the design from concept right through to manufacture.

The second new project is for Zeeko Ltd of Coalville, Leicestershire. This entails using an existing design of their IRP50 ultra-precision grinding machine, which was modelled in CoCreate 3D CAD and remodelling it in Solidworks 3D CAD and producing a full manufacturing drawing pack for delivery. We will also be updating various components and assemblies to include new high precision parts that have been identified during the past manufacturing stages.

We will keep you up to date on both projects and possibly post some screenshots at a later date, if we get the customers permission.
